IPL vs SHR hair removal
IPL and SHR are often presented as competing technologies, but on this site SHR is a mode within IPL equipment, not a separate machine line. This guide explains the relationship, so buyers do not pay for a distinction that does not exist in the equipment.

The guide compares modes, not brands or models. Individual machines vary, and buyers should confirm the specification of the machine they order.
IPL as the base technology
IPL uses intense pulsed light across a broad band, shaped by filters into bands such as 480nm to 1200nm, 530nm to 1200nm, and 640nm to 1200nm on the DPL4-A2 platform. Standard IPL operation delivers pulses at the selected band, and the operator controls the settings for each treatment area.
IPL machines on this site include standalone IPL functions, the portable diode machine combined with IPL, and the SHR mode described below. All of them share the same base technology; what differs is how the light is delivered and which handpieces are used.
SHR as an IPL mode
SHR appears in the shop timeline render for the portable diode machine combined with IPL, listed alongside E-light and IPL modes at 480nm, 530nm, and 640nm. As a mode, SHR changes how IPL energy is delivered during treatment, but it does not change the underlying light source or the wavelength bands available.
Before payment, confirm whether the IPL unit you are ordering carries the SHR mode, which handpiece it uses, and whether any additional setting or attachment is needed. Confirm the specification from the current listing in writing, and ask the supplier what operator guidance covers the SHR mode specifically.
